Did you know there are things you can do other than keep up with oral hygiene and attend your regular dental checkups to prevent cavities? Well, it’s true. Our dentists, Dr. Yakov Royzman and Dr. Karina Zaygermakher are happy to tell you all about them so you can prevent this dangerous and destructive dental issue. Although some of these things might seem uncommon, they can most definitely help. Those things are:

-Use fluoride toothpaste and fluoride mouthwash: Fluoride is a natural mineral that can strengthen and nourish the teeth. It’s important to expose your teeth to fluoride regularly. So, make sure to use fluoride toothpaste and fluoride mouthwash when you clean your smile each day.

-Drink more water: Water can help you in a myriad of ways. In fact, it can wash your mouth from the problem-causing bacteria that like to hang around. When you drink water, it washes the bacteria away and cleans your teeth and gums. So, it’s best to sip on water throughout the day.

-Chew gum: Chewing gum, but only sugar-free gum, can help you prevent cavities. This is because it can produce saliva. When you produce saliva, you wash your smile from harmful bacteria. So, try to chew sugar-free gum after every meal.
